A spec rebuild of loxhome.appBy Samuel OyenugaSeptember 2026

Lox, with the 3 km ring on screen.

I rebuilt Lox's website on spec. It keeps your routes, forms, content model and facts, and changes how the site looks and works so it shows the one thing only Lox has: a vetted pro who already lives within 3 km of your gate.

8routesSame paths as loxhome.app today
3formsSame API paths and field names
0storedThe preview keeps no form submissions

The walkthrough

Desktop, 2 min 30 s. Every page. Home (the ring hero, the "Across Lagos / Inside your ring" toggle, services, how it works, vetting, FAQ and the area map), the blog and a post, About with its chapter visuals, Contact, then the pro side: the pros page, About for pros and Pro support.
Phone, 2 min 24 s. Every page, moving through the phone menu. Tapping an area chip flies the map there and fills in the form.

Today, and rebuilt

The same sections of loxhome.app side by side, captured on 28 September 2026.

Home, first screen

LOXHOME.APP TODAYCurrent loxhome.app home: headline, email field and an illustration of a pro at a door
REBUILTRebuilt home: headline and form on the left, a 3D night map on the right with the 3 km ring around 'Your gate' and a 'Pro matched, 18 min' card

An illustration, and a "Live in 8 neighbourhoods, 24/7 emergency desk" line next to a waitlist button.

The promise, proven in the first screen. The 3 km ring draws around your gate, the pros inside it light up, and the nearest one is matched and drives the streets to you.

Home on a phone

TODAYCurrent home on a phone
REBUILTRebuilt home on a phone: the 3D ring above the headline and the area and email form

The illustration sits below the fold.

The ring leads, the form follows. Capable phones get the 3D at full sharpness; older phones get a flat version from the first frame.

Services

TODAYCurrent services: illustrated cards in a grid
REBUILTRebuilt services: photos of an electrician and a plumber at work

Illustrated cards in rows of three.

Real people doing the work, with the everyday problem each trade fixes ("Borehole pump quiet? Tap won't stop?") and what it covers.

Why 25 minutes works

TODAYCurrent radius section: two paragraphs of text
REBUILTRebuilt radius section: a 3D map with a toggle between 'Across Lagos' and 'Inside your ring', showing 1 to 3 km

Two paragraphs explain the idea.

One toggle shows it. The same pros flip between spread across Lagos and living inside your ring, and the route to your gate redraws.

The closing ask

TODAYCurrent closing band: 'Stop chasing tradesmen' with an email field
REBUILTRebuilt closing section: form and the eight areas over a 3D map of Lagos

An email field.

The eight opening areas on a map of Lagos. Pick one and the map flies there and the form fills in, so every sign-up arrives tagged with its area.

For pros

TODAYCurrent providers page: an illustration of a driver
REBUILTRebuilt providers page: an electrician photo with a sample job card and an Apply now button

A "Become a Lox pro" button with no form in view.

A tradesperson at work, a sample job nearby, and the application one tap away on the same page.

What changed, and why

Your facts stay exactly as you published them. The rest serves one job: getting a Lagos homeowner to trust a stranger at the gate.

Show the ring, don't describe it

  • The density idea is what competitors don't have, so it leads the page as a picture: the hero ring, the "Across Lagos / Inside your ring" toggle, and the map of opening areas.
  • The 3D runs only on devices that can handle it, decided before the page first paints. Everyone else gets a flat version, never a broken one.
  • The first screen is never blank: a 16 KB still of the scene shows instantly, and the live 3D takes over without a jump.

Say only what's true today

  • No "Live" or "24/7" beside a waitlist. The whole site speaks as pre-launch: "Join the list", with your area.
  • One name in the copy: Lox. Loxhome stays for the company, domain and handles.
  • Vetting is explained where homeowners decide: background check, in-person interview, a standards workshop, and a coordinator if anything goes wrong.
  • No invented prices, ratings or numbers. The launch-day version (Book and WhatsApp in place of the waitlist) is the next piece, built once prices and the WhatsApp number exist.

Built for phones on Lagos data

  • Older phones, Data Saver and 2G get the light version from the first frame. The 3D code downloads only on devices that will use it.
  • Capable phones render the 3D at their screen's full sharpness and step down on their own if a phone can't keep up.
  • Forms suit phone keyboards: no auto-capitals in email fields, no zoom-on-focus on iPhone, and Nigerian phone formats accepted.

Easier to find, easier to use

A drop-in, not a migration project

  • Same eight routes, including /providers#apply and /contact?subject=coverage.
  • Same form endpoints and field names: /api/waitlist, /api/provider-apply, /api/contact.
  • Same stack as today (Next.js on Vercel, Sanity-shaped content, Vercel Analytics), so nothing new for your team to learn.
  • Form storage sits behind one adapter, so where submissions go is a setting, and it can be a private store from day one.

What only Lox can decide

These are left out of the site, not guessed. Each one is a quick edit once you decide.

If you like it

The handover is short, and nothing changes on loxhome.app until you say so.
